What's on offer
There are a huge number of different places to go dancing in Munich with all kinds of tastes catered for. As with any big city, the cool places to hang out change on a regular basis and it is sometimes difficult to keep up! We would advise you to speak to your hotel, tell them what kind of place you're looking for and see what they recommend. We will also build a list of recommended clubs on this page - if you find somewhere great, let us know by email and we'll add it to the site.
The local city magazine, 'Prinz Munich' recently published a reader survey on the best clubs in Munich and the results are as follows:
- Pacha with 34.3%
- P1 with 13.8%
- Barcode with 13.5%
- The Garden Club with 8.3%
- Atomic Cafe with 8.0%
So, if you fancy some dancing in Munich, we're sure you'll find something that takes your fancy in the list above!
Pacha
Location: Rosenheimerstrasse 145, close to Kultfabrik
How to get there: go to the Ostbahnhof, you can't miss it from there
Voted the best club in Munich by readers of the local city magazine, so you're not going to go far wrong by spending a night here. Pacha is a chain (or brand?) of leading clubs around the world. The Pacha on Ibiza has been voted the best club on the island and that's clearly saying something. The club itself is a combination restaurant, bar, sushi bar and disco. The door policy is not too strict and you'll find a wide ranges of ages and a wide variety of dress styles. We must say that you do find an awful lot of very good looking people in this club....

P1
Location:Prinzregentenstr. 1
This place has been open for years and years and has the reputation of being quite simply the coolest place in Munich. It can very difficult to get in - so brace yourself and think cool before approaching the door. P1 attracts the most fashionable people - so only go if you feel comfortable in that kind of environment. Came 2nd in the readers poll (probably because so many of us can't get past the doormen!)

Barcode
Location: Domagkstrasse 33
Coming third in the readers poll, the ever popular Barcode. Relativley relaxed door policy and large dance floor make this a favourite. Check out their website.

The Garden Club
Location: Lindwurmstrasse 88
How to get there: U3/U6 Poccistrasse
Quite a small club with two bars and the dancefloor. Seems to attract quite a young, energetic crowd. There isn't a strict door policy to get in, so no worries there and the entrance fee is only €6. Came 4th in the readers poll for best Munich club.

Atomic Cafe
Location:Neuturmstrasse 5, very close to the Hofbrauhaus, right in the centre
Live music or cool DJs every night attracting a cool crowd of varying age from 18 to 40. The door policy can be quite strict (in other words we've had trouble getting in) and it is also quite expensive to get in. The club has a 70's feel to it... groovy man... check it out. Came 5th in the readers poll for best Munich club.

Kultfabrik
Location: Right next door to the Ostbahnhof
One of the biggest party zones in Europe made up of a maze of bars and clubs. Most clubs have bouncers on the doors - so behave yourself if you want to get in! The building was an old factory, making for an interesting ambiance. All of the bars and clubs are close together, so if you get bored with one place, just move onto the next.

Funky Kitchen
Location:Blumenstrasse 28
How to get there: U1/2/3/6 to Sendlinger Tor
Fridays and Saturdays only. It's a little bit odd, but very cool - the venue is a staff canteen during the week, but comes alive as a nightclub at the weekend! It's very difficult to find as there are no signposts and you ahve to make your way through a maze of courtyards to discover the entrance. Have a look at their website for more clues!
